Caring Cross is an innovative nonprofit organization founded by Boro Dropulic, a longtime expert in the gene therapy field, out of the belief that advanced, curative therapies for cancer, sickle cell disease and HIV should not be available only to those who have the means to afford them and what are currently very high costs. With a vision for improved business models that support the affordability and accessibility of gene therapy products, Caring Cross launched a new partnership with the Ministry of Health in Brazil in 2024 and is in discussion with a range of other governments and hospitals, who can serve as platforms for bringing gene therapies to much wider populations globally.
Impact Navigators was hired in the summer of 2024 to craft a strategy for raising the visibility of Caring Cross’ work and its innovative approach toward health equity among the global health community, including through leveraging important moments such as the UN General Assembly high-level session, the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting and the World Health Assembly to connect with like-minded partners and a broader range of Ministries of Health to scale the organization’s impact. Due to the outreach led by Impact Navigators, Caring Cross is now implementing a partnership with a Geneva-based organization to pursue a new centralized funding model that, if successful, will have significant impact on the organization’s ability to reach more countries and people with these transformative therapies.
